Description

Large antique French square steamer trunk made in the 1910s probably. Wooden construction (basically a cube) with a canvas fabric covering. Two hard wood struts across the top and a large leather handle. Edged in leather and bound on the corners in brass. Brass catches and lock on the front (no keys though..). The inside has a removable box frame with fabric lattice. Condition is not bad structurally: it's solid enough though we have braced the base inside where it was split. Hinges replaced. Cosmetically it's quite worn: the fabric is a bit loose or ripped in places (not falling off, though we glued one piece on the back) and has various marks and dings; the colour has darkened in places. Some frayed leather at the top back (see pics). Still a nice, authentic piece and we've priced it for the condition. Dimensions: 61cm x 61cm x 61cm
